we’ll dance again
Single.
Music, lyrics, and performance by Jordan Rowe. 2021.
ABOUT
“We’ll Dance Again” is an 80s new wave inspired rock track that is a tribute to the recently closed New York East Village venue and dance club, Pyramid Club. A legendary spot that hosted the likes of Madonna, Nirvana, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, in recent years Pyramid exclusively hosted nightly 80s dance parties. Unfortunately, those dance nights came to a close during the COVID-19 pandemic. The song draws from artists who were frequently played at Pyramid’s 80s dance nights, such as The Cure, New Order, Joy Division, LCD Soundsystem, and David Bowie.
LYRICS
I wake from a clouded dream
Shake a sober scream
On the edge of certain madness
I shed a total sadness
I stroll the avenue
It fades as I pass through
In front of a sacred landmark
The neon sign does not spark
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
The moment that this winter end
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
The moment that this winter end
The isolation wanes
And the city doesn’t look the same
Below a homesick rooftop
Quirino’s song does not stop
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
In the Pyramid Club we’ll dance again
The moment that this winter end

Jordan Rowe is a rock singer-songwriter with charming vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and a tonal style that harkens back to the catchy, up-tempo sounds of Tom Petty, R.E.M., Violent Femmes, and Goo Goo Dolls. He was born and raised in Los Angeles and currently resides in New York City. Prior to the pandemic, he was a frequent performer at venues like The Bitter End, The Bowery Electric, and Rockwood Music Hall. He draws inspiration from classic rock storytellers like Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, and Bruce Springsteen, as well as more current alternative acts like Kurt Vile, Big Thief, and Wilco.
Jordan is also a writer and director, his music playing a key role in his filmmaking process. He wrote, directed, and composed the original music for The Reservoir, a coming of age short film starring Jared Gilman, the lead from Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. It played the U.S. film festival circuit in 2019 and premiered online in early 2020.
